SOIL/GRASS
Installing in soil/grass is very straight forward and our preferred surface. Before we start digging, we’ll lay the bars out to see where each post needs to go. We’ll then take out a square of soil and keep it in tact. After we’ve dug our holes and installed the posts, we’ll cut the square of grass around the post and relay it for a tidy finish.
ARTIFICAL GRASS
When installing in artificial grass, we cut a flap for each hole that we need to dig. Once the post has been installed, we cut around the post and relay the artificial grass around it. This leaves a very clean finish and the cuts discreet.
If you’re booking us at a similar time to the company laying your artificial grass, we prefer to come in first. This way, the artificial grass can be laid around our posts. If this isn’t possible, it’s no problem, however.
PAVING SLABS/PATIOS
Depending on the paving slabs, we do one of the following:
- Take up the necessary slabs, dig our holes, install the posts, cut the paving slabs to fit around the post and then relay them.
- Use an angle grinder to cut a tight space slightly wider than the posts, dig our holes, install the posts and finish the concrete flush with the rest of the paving slabs.
WOOD CHIPS
After soil areas, wood chip is the easiest for us to work with. When installing in an area that already has wood chips, we will brush them out of our way and cut a flap in the weed membrane for each hole that we need to dig. Once the post has been installed, we’ll cut the weed membrane around the post, relay it and peg it down if necessary and then re-cover the area with the wood chips.
CONCRETE
We can install in concrete, but please let us know in advance. We dig straight through the concrete and, once the post is in, we’ll fill the hole so the postcrete is flush with the concrete.
Please note there’s an additional charge of £30 per hole when we’re installing in concrete, which is to cover the additional labour.
